To add someone as a Friend you first have to follow them!

To do this, go to the profile of a player you want to add and scroll down until you reach the Social Tab and press Follow. This will make you Follow that player. If they Follow you back you will become Friends. 

   
 Keep in mind that you can only personal message and trade with players that you are friends with!
